Gary will make sure deputies have the training and tools they need to protect families and stay ahead of the threats we face today. He will enforce the rule of law with consistency and treat every call like it matters, because it does. Gary’s goal is a Sheriff’s Office that responds with clarity, fairness, and purpose so families can count on real safety, not slogans.

Safe Schools

Parents should be able to send their kids to school with peace of mind. Gary will keep a firm focus on school safety by strengthening the partnership between deputies, teachers, and staff. He will push for clear plans that work when seconds count and update training, policies, and technology to match the threat environment of 2026 and beyond. Our children deserve the safest classrooms we can provide, and Gary will make sure that remains a top priority.

Safe Communities

A safe county starts with leadership that sets clear priorities and supports the people doing the work. Gary will work to improve the climate and culture within the Sheriff’s Office so deputies can serve at a high level. He will focus on fair treatment, solid service, and honest follow up when neighbors raise concerns. Gary will also rebuild working relationships with elected officials, local municipalities, law enforcement partners, and emergency responders. When everyone pulls in the same direction, Buncombe County becomes a safer and stronger place for all of us.
